This week I’m doing a little follow up and answering some questions about the hexagonal dovetailed box.
A mallet carved from a single piece of incense wood, using hand tools, some of them also made by me, with other hand tools.
These two projects are my first and third segmented vases. I’m a 17 year old woodworker from England and I’ve been woodworking for about two years now.
I got my first wood lathe from my parents at Christmas and I’ve been doing a fair amount of turning on it since.
This is my first segmented and turned vase. It’s made from Sapele, Iroko, Beech and Walnut.

All of the wood used here are either from scraps or offcuts that I’ve sourced from School or a local Hardwood bathroom maker.
I’m quite happy with these projects as I really enjoy designing the different patterns and additionally I study maths at college so that really helps with the angles and geometry.

Here is a coffee table its a rather small slab of european oak it got three legs that are made from 10 mm round steal welded to a piece of flat bar it was my first real welding project.
