Plunge Cuts with a Standard Straight Router Bit – Quick Tip

Plunge routers are great.  They offer a lot of versatility but require plunge bits in order to start a cut in the middle of a work piece.  Plunge bits  Because there is no cutting surface on the tip of a standard straight bit, they cannot be plunged into the work to make a cut.  Here’s a quick work around you can use if you’re ever in a situation where you need to make a plunge cut but don’t have a plunge bit.
