    What kind of wood did you use?

    You were doing pretty well on carving the bowl, but then started chiseling “uphill” (into the grain) on the handle. The grain catches the blade, which is why it was sticking. Always carve downhill (across the grain) when you can. It’s so much easier to control the cuts that way!
