Walnut Spice Box

About This Project

In the 17th and 18th centuries, spices were one of the most valuable item in a household. If you were fortunate enough to own a variety of spices, these extravagant goods were kept safe in a locked spice cabinet that also contained hidden compartments to hide money, wills, and other valuables. This spice cabinet is a Matt Cremona Woodworking original adaptation of these vintage cabinets that were once a staple in wealthy, American households. This handcrafted piece is made of solid walnut and maple (from locally grown trees) and contains hand-rubbed brass hardware. It has 13 drawers with 3 hidden compartments and locks with antique-style skeleton key.
