Box #5 by Matt

I just wanted to take a moment to share with you my latest box build. It is cherry with walnut accents and a Danish Oil finish. I’m pretty proud of it.

Sunglasses Case by Conor

Custom order from a friend who sells sunglasses. The frames are made from wood so I thought it fitting to have a wooden briefcase made to carry sunglasses for when he meets with potential clients. The case is made of poplar and held together with dovetails. My first dovetails. A lot of fun. The top is some figured maple I had around with a cherry inlay border. The handle is made of poplar as well and to mount the handle I used cherry. The inside is lined with gray felt and all the hardware is brass. I mounted a mirror under the lid which is framed in poplar as well.

The sunglasses are available at ramseysupply.com. Part of every sale goes to charity.

Strip Canoe by Brian

It is a canoe I built from 20ft rough cut red cedar back in 2012. All strips were laid and glued without the use of staples or tacks.  The gunnels, yoke and decks are cherry with reclaimed walnut inlay. Yoke was hand carved.  I built this canoe to enjoy it. It was a joy to build and a joy to paddle.  It has a couple scratches but I figure If I built it… I’m sure i can find away to fix it.

The canoe itself is a 17ft “Freedom” and was designed by Steve Killing and the book I used as a guide was from Canoe Craft by Ted Moores. (Can’t take all the credit)

Segmented Bowl by Tony

It is 97 pieces cut and glued together.  I made the cuts using a wedgie sled that I built for my tablesaw.  The fences were set based on a wedge that I made using my compound miter saw.  The wood used is cherry and maple.  The finish on it is shellac, mineral spirits, and butcher block conditioner mix that I made.  I plan on putting wipe on poly on it once the humidity goes down.

Acoustic Amplifier by Robin

It’s an acoustic phone amplifier made from discs, cut using a hole saw. The top and bottom are made of laminated oak, off-cuts from a counter-top install, and the middle is made of plywood.
