Wall Mounted Workbench by Tom

This is a wall Mounted work bench that I built for my Tiny Woodshop. The bench is almost 6 Ft long and the top is 3 in thick. It is just shy of 43 in ( I like a tall work bench)! I made this bench from reclaimed walnut on my family’s farm. My grandfather sawed all this walnut Into lumber him self almost 10 years ago. Also the Craftsman Quick release vice was a hand-me-down from my grandfather as well. That is my shop partner Abuela in all the pictures!

Desk by Daniel

It is a desk that was heavily influenced by George Nakashima’s conoid desk. This was my capstone project for my senior year in woodshop. It is made out of sweet gum and walnut. This is the most advanced thing I have made thus far and I would like to continue woodworking at home in my shop. It is finished with Arm R Seal satin, following your finishing instructions 😉

I also have a facebook page where I sell other items I have made, mostly on the lathe.

Coffee Table by Zave

I designed and built this coffee table for my brother and his fiancé. I am super happy with how it turned out and so were they! It is made from all walnut and the legs are made with half-lap joints to connect all the pieces. This was my first project that I planned in sketch up which was a huge help I figuring out the angles.

DNA helix side table by Will

My sister just got her PhD in molecular biology and I decided to make her this side table featuring a dna helix . It is all cherry except for the helixes which are laminated walnut veneer  using west systems epoxy and the tenon wedges which are purple heart.

DNA helix side table I made for my sister’s graduation with a PhD in molecular biology.

  1. Awesome waterfall tables, Matt I always wanted to ask you since your last name is a household name in Malta are you of Maltese descent ?

  2. Hey Matt, is there a difference between wood hardener (PC – Petrified Wood Hardener) and an epoxy for filling small but long cracks in a piece of spalted maple slab?

    Thanks

    1. Yes, the viscosity of the wood hardener will be much lower – right around the same as water so it will absorb deeply into the wood before curing. It won’t fill cracks or voids though. that’s more of a job for your typical epoxy.
