In the shop this week, I continued working on the base moldings, got started on the casing moldings, and finished up a few cutting boards.

Baseball Display by Lance

So I got the honor to build this piece for the National League Cy Young award winner Jake Arrieta of the Chicago Cubs. This is a display for his game ball from his 2015 No-Hitter against the Dodgers.

The piece is made with quilted maple veneer, and I used transtint dye for both colors. I finished the piece with Sherwin Williams CAB acrylic lacquer, buffed to a high finish.
