Matt’s Weekly Shop Update – Mar 2 2015

This week I’m getting really close to having the upper case complete.  I completed the installation of the goose neck moldings and hung the doors.  My friend, Jim, also gave me a big red oak log to slab up.

Upper Cabinets and Range Hood Surround

Welcome back to our home renovation.  Today I am going to be working on this wall. It needs some upper cabinets and the surround for

  1. Definitely run the ship-lath vertically. For such a small piece of veneer you could make your own vacuum press with a strong (like clothing hanging plastic bag and use a vacuum for the glue set time then before releasing set your weights on the veneered piece or send it to me and I’ll veneer it.

  2. Upper case looks great.Love the book matched panals!….Might be best to do both sides when applying your material to thin substrate…Will help balsance the stress .Try it.
