Let’s take a closer look at my recent log acquisition.  Back in the shop, I brought in the lumber for the highboy and applied finish to the porch swing.

Murphy Bed by Brian

I made this with solid and veneer white oak.  The finish is white liming wax.  The drawers are dovetailed solid poplar.
After doing this project I now know why it’s called a Murphy Bed.  Only an Irish man would be crazy enough to make one for his sister-in-law for a really cheap price.

Lamp by Tim

The wood is from pallets. Walnut, poplar, and oak. Broke the pallets down, planed the slats, glued, and then turned.
I was hoping to find an old lamp for the hardware so it would be 100% recycled but I went ahead and bought the hardware.

Watch Box by Ryan

I finished this watch box a few months ago as it was a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law, and I thought it might be worthy of a submission lol. The entire box is made out of walnut that my dad had in the garage attic for many years now. There are 10 watch spaces on top and a ‘hidden’ storage space if you lift the inside box up. The lid is a piece of glass wrapped by walnut so the box acts as a display case as well. And finally the box was finished with Danish Oil.
