I spent a lot of time in the shop this past week working on the benches for the farmhouse table. It felt good to be woodworking again but being back in the shop reminded me of how much attention my shop needs.

I made a quarter-sawn white oak bookcase based on Chris Schwarz’s design, modifying for my own needs. This was the first time I used white oak on a furniture project. You can find pictures and a write-up on my blog here: cdcook.org/blog/blog/2016/10/
Just finished this Mission Entertainment Center to move our TV from over the fireplace. Used QSWO and finished following Jeff Jewitt’s recipe for Mission oak finish which can be found at www.homesteadfinishingproducts.com. I’ve used this method on several pieces and have always been pleased with the outcome. I used wedged through mortise and tenon breadboard ends for the first time and I’m pleased with how they came out. Pretty fun project and wife is happy!
