I’m back from a quick trip to Toronto and while I was there, I shot a couple videos with Paul. Back in the shop, I added the rails to the sideboard to start framing out the case and outside I moved a big silver maple log up onto the sawmill.

Twin Guitars by Paul

I built these guitars for my twins for their 11th birthday. The blue one has a flamed birch top, and spalted birch back. The neck is made of cherry, teak and birch, with ebony on the headstock. Inlays are mother of pearl and copper.

The green one has a flamed birch top with a mahogany and flamed birch back. The neck is comprised of flamed birch and rosewood. Inlays are mother of pearl.

Both guitars are stained with water-based stain, and finished with Crimson Guitars guitar finishing oil, except the top of the blue one which is finished with laquer.

Both guitars have the name of the owner on the back of the headstock.

Table and Bench by Alex

These are a table and bench I made for my final degree show at uni, the bench is very nakashima inspired, made with an unknown cedar top, quatersawn oak legs and Spanish Cedar kumiko between them and finished with Tung oil. The table is again influenced by Japanese furniture but also influenced by traditional English timber framed houses. The table itself is made from wood left to me from my grandad who passed away last year, the table top is mahogany and the legs are also quarter sawn oak with Bubinga and lacewood panels inset between more Spanish cedar, the top was finished with a Japanese plane to get that nice sheen and then a few coats of tung oil. The only power tool used on this project was an orbital sander. I slowly made these over 2 months and regretted the panel design in the table as soon as I started, these are also on show at my uni exhibition at Canterbury UCA between 16th June and 22nd june.

Intarsia Plaque by Eric

This is a intarsia piece I just did for my school. It is made out of hickory, cherry, walnut, maple, and padauk. It is 30” tall by 25” wide

Patio Cooler by Greg

I am making these patio coolers out of upcycled wood from Heat treated pallets. The tops are upcycled Cedar that would have gone to the dump. The only new products in these are the coolers themselves and the Screws to hold it together.

They are fun to build though a lot of work. I coat them with Flood CWF UV clear satin fence and deck product. The cedar remains uncoated for food safety.My Business page is gregsreinventions on Facebook.
