00:35 – Hey Matt, glad you did this video. Roughly how much do you have invested in your saw mill?? Not counting your time??? Thanks in advance!! – David Clauson

03:32 – Would you rather fight ten chicken sized horses or one horse sized chicken? – Ryan Askew

03:42 – How can you work in such a cramped space? Seems like you have no empty floor space at all. – Max Maker

04:20 – Can you talk about your family-work-life balance? Before you were a full time content creator, how did you balance a full time job with you family and life administration stuff? I have 10 month old twins, a 3 year old, and a full time job and feel like shop time cuts into family time or the other crap that comes along with adulting (mowing the lawn, grocery shopping, household chores, etc.). – Alex Vitale

06:48 – What (if any) is your backup plan if this DIY/Woodworking thing stops generating enough income for you? I know you are doing things with Spags in the guild and I see a lot of the more popular guys/gals going with the “online school” type of thing but what if that were not an option? I guess in a round about way I’m asking; “If you were just a regular woodworking person that can’t or just didn’t want to do YouTube channels and classes, would you still find a way to make a living with woodwork or would you become more of a hobbyist like many of us that still have to maintain a regular 9 to 5 job? – Jesse Moree

07:22 – Do you have any remedies for dealing with mold that is starting to appear when drying lumber? – Daniel Klisiewicz

08:22 – Are you going to be at IWF in August? – MrLaserdave

08:30 – I’d like to see you revisit some of your old projects and show how they are holding up over time and talk about things you have learned by seeing how the projects have held up over time (wood movement, finish, joint stability, epoxy fill durability). I think we can all learn a lot from our past projects and it’d be very interesting to see how you evaluate some of your past work. Thanks for all the great content, instruction, time and dedication you have put into your channel. I have learned a lot from watching your videos and look forward to each new one that comes out. -Jeff (Prairie Sun)

  1. Matt.
I have the same planner that you have. I continually have problems with chip removal. It gets clogged up and I have to remove the suction port and clean it out. I have a Jet Cyclone 1.5hp dust collector connected to it. Have you had this problem before???

    1. Likely your collector isn’t able to pull enough air. I had that issue with my old collector (1.75 single stage) but has improved dramatically since replacing it with a 3hp cyclone. My old collector was only pulling 200cfm at max efficiency. The new one pulls over 400.

  2. Hi Matt!

I have recently started a sawmill build in Sweden. Taking parts from an old bandsaw with 28” steel wheels.
In your videos, I noticed that you at least from the beginning hade your bands mounted directly on your wheels without any rubber (I.e. metal.on metal)? I have problems finding rubbers to my wheels… best! //Jack

  3. Hi Mat, I have seen most of your video’s and they are interesting but I like metal work more than wood working. Last November I ordered your saw mill plans and had forgot about them till the other day, so went looking for them and can’t fine them any place on the computer. Did they get sent ? Don’t know where to look. Love your band saw mill, You did a great job on it. I am retired and have always loved machines. I grew up in Wisconsin 20 miles from the dells, Now living in North central Indiana.
